For the last several years the wakestyle movement has dominated the kiteboard scene, however in recent years big-air is back and now kiteSURFING is beginning to really shine too. We all can remember a few years ago the top guy’s in a race for the first rider to be barreled in a wave. Today with huge advances in equipment the new levels they are pushing with wave riding is insane. The video posted below really is one of the most exciting kite movies in recent years and quite possibly ever, actually i hope it is a trailer for a full movie to be released in the future. This movie certainly judging by the short has the potential to stand up against the likes of “Riding Giants” or “Crystal Voyager” of the kite scene. Fingure’s crossed they get it together to give us a full movie and it goes on to become a cult legacy of this time in the sport.
Patagonia ambassador Reo Stevens gives us an in depth look into making the most out of marginal conditions. Kitesurfing is not a replacement for surfing, simply an extension of it; the conditions for one are only ideal when they are not for the other. By using the kite as a means to harness one of surfing’s imperfections, surfers can increase their water time and maximize their wave count. Other riders include Keahi De Aboitiz, Ian Alldredge and Patrick Rebstock.
